A Beautiful December Day

Good afternoon friends!

So today I am supposed to be working on some projects for school, but instead I have been playing Tetris for the past hour.  Cannot possibly be more procrastinating.  But that is not why I wanted to jump in and post on this glorious afternoon.  I realized that it is December 2nd and it is supposedly 36 degrees outside.  That should be kind of cold, but I have the window open and a fan blowing fresh air into my room so it can't be that cold (I absolutely hate the cold).  So this is a bit of an ode to this beautiful, though unexpected, December day.

A glance outside says that it is sweatshirt weather
The warmth is bringing fog from the ground
though the clouds look ready to spew frozen lace
The squirrels are much more spirited today than last week
The cold had started to set into their tiny bones
and they were beginning to hide away for the winter
But today, the squirrels hop gleefully between the trees
A good sign that it must be warm
The sun is poking out from a hole in the clouds
just to remind us that it isn't going away
Even the lifeless trees with their bare branches look lively
Their bark is not as gray as it was a day ago
Yes, this is the warmth that was needed
to thaw out a bit before the real freeze sets in
Just a small amount of warmth to remind us that winter is not the end
Only a small moment in time in which the world naps
and we pause to watch our breath bubble to the sky
with our wishes and hopes to always be remembered
It is this day of warmth that says
"Be calm.  All will be well in due time."

Alright, well that was a bit unexpected.  As was this day so I suppose it fits well.  To all of you in a warm climate today, get off of your computers and go outside.  Trust me, it is worth it.

Keep on living gloriously friends,
Maria
